f r e a k

As my good pal Susan would put it ever so lovingly, I am a "freak". I worry too much sometimes. Not about pressing world issues or impending family crisis.

Nope.

I worry about ridiculous, somewhat-imaginary scenarios that might possibly come true. I always assume that I know what other people are thinking - or usually after the fact, what people thought.

This has become evident with my blog. (I still despise the word "blog", by the way. I feel like such a cyber-dork every time I use it)

I'll write something from the heart after a cup of coffee, while the little guy is watching "Winnie the Pooh" (affectionately called "Shampoo" lately for some reason) and I have a few minutes to steal away at the computer.

Then, hours or days later, I'll re-read it.

Was that too winy? Too happy? Too mushy? Too personal? Did it sound too down? To uppity? Too sugar-coated? Too Stewart-Smally-Wannabe?

So, for the record...I have decided today that I'm just going to write what I want to write - unfiltered and uncensored (as though anything I write is ever racy). If it comes out wrong, then I guess that's the chance I take. Blogs are kind of like emails, in that sense. IF YOU WRITE IN ALL CAPS, for example, you sound pissed...even though you might just be excited or have forgotten to take the caps lock off.

My hope is that our site keeps our family & friends connected, up-to-date...and every-so-often brings a smile to your face. That's my primary intention, although sometimes my posts turn into some type of therapy for me :)

And I'll keep working on my freakishness. I'm pretty sure it's ingrained in me, though. Something passed down in my DNA code from my mom and Grandma Cleo. Besides, it's been 9 months since my last glass of wine. That usually seems to help tone down the freak.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend!!

You are anything BUT a freak girl! I love reading your brilliant writings and stories. I think you are a funny woman! it's YOUR blog, you should feel free to post whatever you like, and if someone reading it doesn't like it, well that's THEIR choice and they don't have to read it, you know? Side note: I wanted to tell you, if you really want some "Pottery Barn" over-priced stuff, I'm thinking you can find some things on Craig's List for well below the outrageous catalog prices! I sold my bedroom furniture on there, well i posted it and Jen Thayer bought it, but I'm buying a chair for my new Apt., Yellow Velvet for $30! Oh yeah! So check it out, it's addicting and there's lots of goodies on there! Miss you! Love you!

Join the Freak Squad! I have just given into that urge to write "WHATEVER" on my blog! If it bothers some people, they can hit the DELETE button. You are right that it is a sort of therapy- I think it helps calm me, gets my day off on the right foot, and teaches me spelling! :) Be yourself- a great mom, a wonderful person, and a talented writer!

My Dear, Sweet Daughter:

Putting aside the comment about "DNA" and your Mom....I want to say that if you are a "Freak", which you are definitely NOT..Your honesty and character come out in everything you write! If being a freak is one who loves her family, her husband, her child beyond everything else but God, then I pray everyone in the world becomes a "Freak" like you. Your love, kindness and sensitivity make up what is you and everyone I know loves you so much! And where is the "Wednesday" piece you wrote? Did you think you bothered someone by showing how precious one day in your life can be? Oh that people would realize that for the 24 hours of one day that they have, they will never, ever get that day back and enjoying and relishing in the little things, whether it be shopping at Aldi's or kissing your little Hayden goodnight...That 24 hours of your life is important and God is excited that you enjoyed the day He gave you. Write from your heart...you'll never be wrong. Love you gobs, Mom

If I had the talent to write I would have my own blog. Make use of your talent just as you make use of your beautiful voice. Just write from the heart. You do a GREAT job!
