One Crazy White Woman

Hello, my name is Kelli. And I am one crazy white woman.

Or so I thought.

You see, over the past few years, my taste in home decor has become rather boring blahhh neutral. My usual mix of red pillows, colorful wall art and hue-friendly throws has slowly been replaced by white.

Eggshell. Ivory. Cream. Bisque.

Call it what you want, it's white. First I painted our mantle white. Then I slowly replaced our pillows with white pillow covers - some with designs, some with a slight print and some completely and utterly white. Then a white throw or two. An unnatural obsession with white pitchers spread throughout the house. White candles. White lamp shades. White curtains.

You get the point.

(At least I haven't resorted to white furniture. I'm not that crazy. I do have two boys and a baby on the way)

I do love the light, crisp, airy look of white accents. And can I tell you how my heart raced when I received my Country Living February Issue!!

I swooned over the pages. I felt validated in my decor choices.

And I resigned to the fact that I was, in fact, one crazy white woman.

Then, about 7 weeks ago, we got some news that shook up my world. And my design tastes!

So when I saw the latest House Beautiful issue, I snapped it up in a heart beat!

One room of our house is now a lovely shade of Sherwin William's Lotus Flower, with a bit of grey added in to tone it down a bit. It's a fairly empty room at this point, just waiting for the crib (complete with pink bumper) to be moved in. Along with the white changing table, to which I swapped out the old white nobs for adorable pink glass ones (thanks, Hobby Lobby and your fabulous 50% sales!).

Ah, the power of pink indeed!!

I will post some pics once we get it all finished. So exciting!!!!!

I loved studying my copy of Country Living and just adored the "whiteness"! It looked so clean and pure!
I am always so torn when it comes to color. I love my big eggplant wall, but I also love my soft gray bathroom. And would like to try an all white bedroom.
So happy that you get to add PINK!
You might be a crazy white woman- but we love you!Keep up the creative sparks!

When I lived in Arkansas I once had a pink kitchen...I LOVED it. I would never paint this kitchen pink because it is too large but with a small one it looked so nice!Pink with white...maybe somewhere I have a picture to share.

Decorating for a little girl's nursery is surely a change and very exciting! Can't wait for the AFTER pictures.
