New Favorite Site

So I've established in past posts that I'm a) very inspired by design catalogs and b) a cheapskate. I've seen a lot of framed vintage illustrations lately with hefty price tags (anywhere from $100-$500) in Pottery Barn & Ballard Design catalogs. While I like these prints, I would never pay that much and I know my tastes would change within a month of buying them :) So after some online searching, I've found a great site that hosts tons of vintage illustrations. They are free and, for the most part, high resolution. Add a home printer, card stock or photo paper and some inexpensive frames into the mix, and you've got your own version of these pricey prints.

The site is http://www.sil.si.edu/ImageGalaxy/. It's through the Smithsonian Institute. You can find anything from birds and butterflies to vintage, quirky chair or bath illustrations that would be great for the living room or bathroom.

Anyway, just thought I'd pass this along.

Love the butterflies! I always wanted a butterfly or bug collection. I bet with a little creativity I can make it look realistic! Fun site! Thanks!

Oh... and that Weight Watcher thing- I think you can stop now.
